Video Projection | Installation
This installation and performance takes inspiration from the renowned rose windows found at the Virgin of Angustias church in Valladolid, Spain.
InRivers Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, extended an invitation to Vainica Project [Leonor Torres & Teresa Cacho] to exhibit their work. The installation centers around the universal theme of home and draws upon childhood memories of visiting a church, a sacred space illuminated by the radiant light streaming through rose windows.
The objective of the project was to recreate this immersive experience using contemporary digital techniques. The gallery meticulously mapped and replicated the window's shape using wood, while the interplay of light rays was mirrored using wool and black fluorescent materials. To enhance the visual impact, the portrait of the Virgin of Angustias was digitally drawn.
Through this innovative installation, visitors are transported into a realm that merges tradition and modernity, inviting contemplation and evoking a reverence.
