An installation and performance inspired by the rose windows from the Virgin of Angustias church, in Valladolid, Spain.
InRivers Gallery invited Vainica Project [Leonor Torres & Teresa Cacho] to have an exhibition in their space in Brooklyn, New York. The installation is based on the common experiences of home. A typical memory from our childhood, visiting church with family, a 'sacred space' where the natural light streams through rose windows.
Our goal was to recreate that experience through the digital language that is more native to us nowadays. We mapped the window and duplicated its shape in wood at the gallery. We mirrored the light rays utilizing wool and black fluorescent, and drew digitally the portrait of Virgin of Angustias.
